This blog is part two in a series about how to create your Best Year Ever through creating a compelling vision. To read part one in the series, “What’s so Great About a Compelling Vision Anyway?,” go here…

Last time I told you just how critical it is to have a compelling vision for your life and business, and today I’ll be sharing a few steps on how to create that vision.

Step 1: You’ll want to start by getting super clear on what you want to create, then get into the core desired FEELING of that vision. This is bigger than your goals, which you’ll create AFTER determining your vision.

A fuzzy vision = fuzzy results.

When you aren’t clear on what you want, you could end up with just about anything, and it won’t be your deepest desires.

Take some time to list everything you want in your business and in your life. What do you ache for, dream about? What excites and motivates you to get out of bed in the morning? What is your soul’s desire?

When I ask you what your vision is for the year, I’m not looking for “I want to have a 6-figure income,” or “I want to lose 10 pounds” – these are goals, not a vision. I want you to get into the FEELING of and be able to PICTURE what you want to create through achieving your goals.

Make your vision vivid: What could you create in your life if you made 6-figures in your business this year? If it’s financial freedom, what would that look like? A weekly massage? A month in Europe? Create a full-color snapshot, or a motion picture in your mind of your deepest desires and a moment in time that captures having attained that vision. Include all five senses in your description. What do you See, Taste, Feel, Smell, Hear?

Step 2: Know your WHY. Why do you want a 6-figure business? Who do you want to impact, and how? What will attaining this give you, your family, your clients?

Ask Yourself:

What do I have to offer the world?

What impact do I want to make?

As a child, I knew I wanted to make an impact on the world, but I was very shy. In my twenties, through a small business venture, I realized my passion was to work with women like myself. Women with big visions and big hearts, struggling to make a bigger impact, but lacking confidence in themselves, their goals, and dreams. This realization meant I had to hold a bigger vision for myself and do my own inner confidence building in order to support them.

Step 3: Have a vision for the short and long-term: begin with your big, long-term vision then create a smaller one to work on for 2018, which will move you towards your big vision. In five or ten years…what do you see? Who will you be?

Part of my long-term vision is to own a beach house where I can hold women’s retreats.

Here is how I used my five senses to create my vision:

It’s early morning at the beach house. I sit quietly in my blue lounge chair on the sand, listening to the waves lapping the shore. A cool breeze blows across my legs, but as the sun rises higher, my body warms. I wiggle my toes in the sand, take a sip of my hot coffee, and breathe in the fresh, ocean air. Seagulls glide above as I envision my home filled with women entrepreneurs who arrive in a few short hours, excited for a weekend retreat of confidence and community building.

Do you see how I used all of the senses? Did you feel like you were there? The more crystal-clear you are, the easier you’ll find it to stay motivated, on track and moving forward.

Step 4: Once you’ve written your vision: Commit to it. Concentrate on your vision for at least a minute twice-a-day—before getting out of bed, and before going to sleep. Research shows your brain does not know the difference between actually doing something and just visualizing it. Consistently re-imagining your vision helps strengthen your ability to achieve it.

Now that you’ve got your vision, you’re going to have to watch out for your limiting beliefs, gremlins and “not-good-enough” thoughts that are going to stop you from creating what you desire. The bigger you dream, the bigger these inner roadblocks will get.

Keep your eyes peeled for the next blog where I will look at some of the blocks to achieving the amazing life you’ve laid out. I’ll also suggest ways to breakthrough the barriers so you achieve more success in 2018 and beyond.

You were put on this planet for a reason. It’s time to get crystal clear on your vision so you can create all you desire and what you were put on this planet for.
