A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend of mine, Ly Smith, and she said she likes to ask her clients, “are you going to be a Cubic Zirconia or are you going to be a diamond?” You’re probably wondering what in the world does that mean?

As you know, diamonds are formed when they are put under a lot of pressure and stress over a long period of time, and finally form into beautiful diamonds!

A cubic zirconia is a cheap imitation of a diamond. Anyone can get them just about anywhere. Also, if you were to abbreviate cubic zirconia, it would be CZ (also just happens to be the abbreviation for Comfort Zone).

In order to create what you want in your life, to create your dreams and vision, reach your goals, make an impact, be seen on a bigger level, you need to put in the hard work, ya gotta get uncomfortable and get out of your comfort zone!

If you want to create beautiful diamonds in your life, there will be stress, discomfort, growing pains, stretching, and a whole lot of beauty along the way, too.

In order to be successful and get what you want, you gotta stretch and grow. Sometimes it’s painful, and it takes a lot of work and effort, and getting out of your comfort zone, but when you get to the other side, it’s so beautiful to have created your dreams and desires!

Whatever it is you’re doing, you’ve got to get outside your comfort zone. I used to be so shy I couldn’t raise my hand in college to ask a question! That’s how scared I was of being seen, heard, judged, looking stupid, you name it, it was probably a fear! And now I am a confidence coach, and I sure as hell didn’t get here by being comfortable!

I made a decision a long time ago that I wanted to be a diamond! I wanted to develop myself, grow my confidence, expand my comfort zone, so that I would reach my vision of impacting a lot of people in my life. I didn’t want to be a cubic zirconia and stay inside my comfort zone.

I talk in this video about my (then) upcoming retreat, and how getting ready for it and filling it there were ups and downs, frustrations, tears and lots of unknowns, but I stayed in the discomfort and kept moving forward and I ended up creating the most amazing, transformational retreat for the ladies who attended, and it truly changed their lives!

As Ly said in our conversation, “Outside my comfort, IS my zone!” I LOVED that!! Basically, that’s how I have lived the past 11 years since I started on my journey to confidence. I know that if I stay inside my comfort zone, I won’t get things done or make the impact I want to make.

It’s amazing when people come to me and say things like “you have inspired me to quit my job and start my business,” or “because of you, I didn’t give up!” or “I can now say that I believe in myself and my vision!”

So today I ask you, are you going to be a Cubic Zirconia, or a Diamond?

I encourage you to get outside your comfort zone, take those risks, take baby steps or big leaps, just do SOMETHING!! You are truly worthy of having everything you want in your life, business and relationships.
