I spent this past weekend in San Francisco, CA with an amazing group of women, and a couple men, at Caterina Rando’s Sought After Speaker Summit. What an amazing, inspirational event! Caterina fills her courses to the brim with value, inspiration and gets us started on what we will do to grow our businesses once we get home.
One of the things that she said that struck me was “don’t wait until you’re ready, act when you’re willing.” We are rarely ready to take the leap, or put ourselves out there in a big way, stepping out of our comfort zones, in order to get to where we want to be, but we have to be willing. It’s like parenthood, no one is ever ready and 100% prepared before their little ones arrive, but they are willing (and super excited!) to take the leap to become parents.
In life and business, if we wait until we are totally prepared before we launch a program, make those phone calls, start an exercise program or write that novel, our lives will pass us by and before we know it, it will be too late.
I want to challenge you this week to take the leap and build your wings on the way down. Yes, it’s scary! Yes, you will have to step out of your comfort zone. Yes, you will grow your business and change your life!
I ask you, what’s more important-staying safe in your comfort zone, or having a thriving, incredible life? So, if you’re with me, I want you to decide which mountain you want to tackle first, step up to the edge, take a giant leap and flap like crazy on the way down. I’ve chosen my mountain, stepped up to the edge, jumped and am flap, flap, flapping. I can’t wait to see where I soar.
How will you leap?
I’d love to hear where you will stepping out of your comfort zone, the goals you will tackle and how you will leap. Please comment below so I can support you!
Nice blog post, Erin! I love the way you think! 🙂
Haha, Thanks Dana! I’ve had some great mentors and teachers 😉 XOXO!
There are a number of sayings that I like that apply. “Jump and the net will appear is one.” Way too many of us, myself included want it perfect before we share it with the world. It can become a fatal flaw.
YES! So many of us (especially women), want it all to be perfectly in place before going for it, but if we wait, we may never do it! Just do it, like Nike says 😉
Hello fellow Listapaloozian!
To answer your question – one of the last things said in one of our calls – from Lisa Sasevich was “if you commit, they will commit” – so powerful and so true – I think that is what I have been needing to hear and it showed up – its sort of like that saying “when you are ready, the teacher will appear”…I needed to hear it and there it was…so my big leap is to be 110% fully committed to my work again – I took a fair amount of time off when I transitioned to mommy hood, never shutting my biz down, but retreating in order to be able to figure my “new normal” out…I’m ready to show up in a big way again – and LEAP! Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

Congrats on your re-commitment to your biz! Sometimes it’s important to take a step back and evaluate, take a break, and re-commit and re-think what we want and how to achieve that balance. I look forward to hearing how things are changing and growing for you!
The most recent one was a cold calling campaign that I started last week and will carry through the summer. Once I took the first step, I wondered what I had been so afraid of. These types of experiences help me be less fearful with the next ‘jump’.
Absolutely Nina! The more you leap, the easier it gets, and the more you WANT to do it! Congrats on the cold calling leap!
Ha! No one is ever ready…it’s like parenting. That really hits home with me. I remember being 8 months pregnant with my first child and wondering aloud, “OMG what have we done?!” Thanks for the reminder that leaping is definitely worth the risk. 🙂
Hahaha! Too late then! Lol. I have certainly found leaping WELL worth the risk, every time. Thanks for sharing Jen!
