Although life is always full of uncertainty, it feels much more certain in normal times, and the current level of uncertainty is huge and can be very scary and unsettling. Something I am finding is I have needed a lot more “me” time, self-care, and I am learning new processes to manage and clear my energy. That has been hugely helpful! And I am learning what I can do NOW to continue moving forward through this time of unknowns.
Above is a video I did live in my group, Confident Woman Community, about how I have been dealing with the pandemic, the shifts in energy and my business. I have REALLY gotten to know more about what it means to be an Empath the past couple of months, and how to take care of my energy. I wanted to share that with you as I know many of you are also empaths (you just may not know it yet!).
If you don’t know what an Empath is, the very basics are, we feel other people’s pain, sadness, fear, energy, as if it is our own. Imagine what a dry sponge is like soaking up liquid. Empaths are like dry sponges and we soak up all the energy around us, good or bad. We feel collective energy as well, so as a collective, the energy in the world is much lower than usual, so it has really been affecting me and my energy. Has it been effecting yours?
I spent a couple weeks having daily headaches, feeling like I had cotton balls in my brain, and feeling completely exhausted with zero motivation. This was because I didn’t know how to protect and clear out the energy that was sticking to me.
I have since learned many ways to cleanse my energy so I can feel better, have more energy, and be more productive. It has really helped, although I still have some tough days, it is MUCH better!
Here are a few things I have been doing:
Protective Energy Bubble: Imagine yourself wrapped in a protective energy bubble, where negative energy can’t get in, and it protects your positive energy. Some good bubble colors are purple, pink, gold or white. You can also imagine your house being wrapped in this energy bubble to protect it as well.
Salt baths: Take a bath with 1-2 cups of regular salt. I learned that regular salt clears the energy better than epsom salt (epsom is great for sore muscles though!).
You can also add salt to your body wash in the shower if you don’t take daily baths.
Meditate: Even if it’s just 5 minutes, sit quietly, or use a guided meditation, to clear the mind, and relax the body.
Ground yourself on the earth, walk barefoot on the grass, or imagine having roots coming down from your feet, into the ground. You can do this sitting at your desk as well.
I also want to encourage you to do lots of self-care, be compassionate with yourself and don’t compare yourself to others.
Self-Compassion: It can be hard to not beat yourself up for not being as productive as usual, but I REALLY want you to be as compassionate with yourself as possible, stretch that compassion muscle. We are living in times none of us have ever experienced, so it is totally normal to not be normal! Lol! Be compassionate and don’t beat yourself up if you need to take a nap in the middle of the day, or take the day off. Be kind to yourself, and give yourself what you need to stay well.
Self-Care: Make self-care a PRIORITY. It should always be a priority, but now it should be TOP priority! With all this extra energy hanging around and draining you, if is extra important to do those things that rejuvenate you, and get extra rest. Give yourself permission to do what you need to do for yourself and your body.
Don’t Compare Yourself: So many of us have a tendency to compare ourselves to others, and that is NEVER productive! Especially now, I want you to stop comparing. Some people are super effected by the energy right now, and some aren’t. If you are seeing some people killing it in their business, and you are taking a bit of a step back because your energy is overwhelmed, that’s totally OK! DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF! It will only make you feel worse.
If you are struggling, ask yourself, “what can I do to take care of myself today?” And if you need support, please reach out. I am here to support you.

Some books that have supported me in learning more about being an empath are:
The Empath’s Survival Guide by Judith Orloff
Empowered Empath by Judy Dyer
Both can be found on Amazon, and Audible, and both authors have multiple books as well.
