You can’t have a message without a mess. Don’t freak out just because things go wrong. They’re supposed to, that’s life, it’s normal. The strongest, most amazing and successful people have gone through the ringer! They’ve had major failures, bankruptcy’s, lived in their cars, and some even came close to giving up on life. On the other side of those messes came their most brilliant, inspirational messages and greatest successes.
Warning: Sharing your messy message takes vulnerability, and a willingness to be truly seen.
The good news: Your messes will give you greater strength, ability to understand those you serve, and greater clarity as to where your life needs to go next. And even better, when you break through that mess, you’ll have a message to share, people will connect with you on a deeper level and want what you have, you will empower others, and make a lasting difference.
Hi Erin,
Thanks for sharing that message. It was awesome! I just got done giving my testimony for the women at a City Mission Bible Study and I found that when I shared my vulnerabilities and mistakes, my listeners appreciated it and got more out of my talk.
Thank you for reinforcing this in my mind and heart as I move into the realm of speaking.
As a Christian writer and speaking, I’m learning how important it is to be transparent.
Amy
