I’m thinking of one of my favorite Zig Ziglar quotes today as I think about the incredibly inspirational man we lost last week. “You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want.” What is it that you want? Do you want more money? A successful career? To lose weight or get fit? Help someone else with their goals, and you will find yours falling into place. When we focus too much on ourselves, things tend to get stuck where they are. But when we focus on helping others, while striving to reach our own goals, an abundance of what we want comes to us.

Let’s say you want to be more successful in your career and want more money. Start by making a list of ways you help others with your business and what you offer other people. Next, keep your eyes and ears peeled for opportunities to help individuals and the community. Refer people, share information or post about it on Facebook, to give you some ideas. For example, when I was starting my coaching business, I met a woman in a networking group who introduced me to a few more groups, which has broadened my base of contacts immensely. She knows a ton of people and is a master networker. She helped me immensely just by helping me find places to network. She took a small amount of time to help me, which created trust, making me want to help her and her business when I can. She wasn’t expecting anything from helping me, but in the long run, it has helped her business grow, too.

If you are solely focused on what you can do for yourself, you might be successful, but it’s likely to be a slow struggle, and may not stick around. Figure out how you can help other people, and you will have massive success!
